Sydney Hamrick

MS, LMHC
Counselor

Sydney has built her career working with at risk youth, addictions, and mental health. She began working as a counselor intern at a non-profit in Florida, before obtaining licensure as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in Florida as well, then transferring to become a substance abuse counselor at Avise Wellness Collective.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology with a second bachelor’s in sociology. Sydney went on to earn a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She strives to create a warm, nonjudgemental space where all feel safe to explore their experiences and emotions openly while they recover from addiction and learn to manage mental health symptoms.

What inspires Sydney the most is witnessing the moments of breakthrough, when individuals begin to recognize their own strength and capacity from change. These breakthroughs reinforce why she loves being in this line of work; to help individuals not only recover, but truly thrive in mind, body, and spirit.

She draws on a range of therapeutic techniques to meet each individual where they are, integrating Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), person-centered therapy, mindfulness and strengths-based strategies, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) techniques.
